Thought for Today

The 'Giant of Africa' is sleeping and needs to wake up…

Today a lot will be said about the failings of our leadership at all levels, local, state and federal. Even more will be said about Greed, Bribery, Corruption and Nepotism. Nobody can dispute the wave of despair, desperation or hopelessness that has gripped many fellow Nigerians at home and in the Diaspora. Collectively, we all know that the mood is not really one of celebration and fan fare, but each of us should individually aspire to greatness and endeavour to be a part of the solution and not a part of the problem. For everything that is giving cause for alarm, despair and resignation there are equal stories of great achievement, outstanding excellence and sheer tenacity in the face of adversity. Wherever you are today you can and will do better if you want to. Whatever is broken or lost can be fixed, repaired or replaced.

We are generally hard working people and many of us only want the best. Whatever the problems we have everything that we need to turn things around is within us or on our doorstep.

As a nation we need to stand up and be individually and collectively accountable for what we believe in. We need to establish core values of common decency and humanity and rebuild our nation. Be 'Independent' and 'Pioneers' of the greater tomorrow.

Today we are centre stage. It is time to unite and consolidate together as one, relive the vision of those who fought hard for our independence and make it a reality…
