Hello and welcome to our 1st Anniversary and Valentine's Day, Special Edition.

It hardly seems possible that we've survived our ‘maiden voyage.' It has been hard work, often frantic and even scary at times, interspersed with moments of profound joy and sadness. Gloria Ademokun who was featured in our May edition sadly, despite putting up a very good fight, passed away from Leukaemia on 30 December 2005. Please register to be a bone marrow donor, or if you are not eligible to be one, you may wish to help raise funds for further research to combat this deadly illness. If we stand united we can all do our best to limit others, including you and I, from having to go through what Gloria and many others already have…

‘Prevention is always better than the Cure.' HealthyAfrica is a charity set up to educate based on this premise with a view to establishing the foundation for a 21 st century Health Service for Nigeria and a pilot for the rest of Africa. Some of us take the National Health Service ‘NHS' in the UK for granted, while many in Nigeria are dying for a variety of reasons including but not limited to fake drugs, poor education with regard to medical facilities and limited access to the same, they are dying due to insufficient or non existent funds or inadequate up to date medical equipment, poor sanitation and hygiene. By making a donation of £5 per child or £20 per adult you would be sponsoring either a chid or an adult for outpatient treatment for a whole year! Today as everyone all over the world is focusing on ‘love' think about this act of kindness and the difference that it would make to someone's life…

I have surprised myself by how much fun and excitement I have had and how inspired I have felt by many of the stories some of you have been kind enough to share over the past year. Thank you to all our readers for your feedback, encouragement and support and special thanks to those of you who found the time to complete our survey.
