Food For Thought

Will you look back on life and say “I wish I had” or “I'm glad I did?”
Zig Zigler

Last week I had the privilege of attending an annual two-day conference which focused on the various charitable organisations that my company has been supporting and what numerous colleagues have done to facilitate or assist their achievements by fundraising, ‘challenges' and volunteering. This was my first conference and I had no idea what to expect. I was moved to tears on several occasions and I was not alone. Each and every one of us may face hardship or adversity, loneliness or depression, disability or long term illness. There are wonderful people out there who are unselfishly making a difference in other peoples' lives.

Martin Luther King once said “Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about the things that matter”

We can all make a difference wherever we are with whatever we have. If you are in employment enquire about “Give as you earn”. If you have the time think about what you can do to make a stranger smile. Can you help with someone's shopping? Assist a child with his or her reading? Or offer your skills to grow systems and processes within a charitable organisation?

“Only a life lived for others is worth living”
Albert Einstein

Let us fear less, hope more, whine less, breathe more, talk less do more….
