Spraying of the Naira

Spraying is about to become a thing of the past. An age old Nigerian tradition, but for many, it has long since spiralled out of control and started to signify decadence in a society where poverty is rife and crime is rampant. Once the new bill is passed, spraying, dancing or marching on any of the notes issued by Central Bank will constitute defacing the Naira, and is liable to be sanctioned under the new law.

Many of the old notes are indeed filthy, tatty and torn and perhaps it is about time that we “cleaned up our act!”
