Water
H2O, otherwise known as water, is essential for our health. About 60% of our body weight consists of water and all of the systems in our bodies depend on it in order to function properly.
A man may live without food for a few weeks a, but will die without water after a matter of days! water aids digestion, circulation, regulation of body temperature, lubrication of the joints and removal of body waste. It is also good for our skin and has been said to help reduce wrinkles! Every day the body loses water by breathing, sweating, urinating and bowl movements, all of which needs to be replaced to avoid dehydration.
To avoid dehydration one should drink a minimum of 6- 8 glasses of clean water each day. If you work out, reside in a hot climate, are pregnant or breastfeeding you may need to drink a bit more.
Our water intake includes the food and fruit that we eat as well as other beverages. Oranges for example are 87% water and cucumbers are 95%.
If you want to lose weight, water is the best diet drink around with 0 calories and if you live in an area where it is safe to drink straight from the tap, it will not cost you a penny either!
