Hello and welcome to our festive edition of Konnections.
As the year comes to a close, I am struggling with mixed emotions of joy, sadness, relief, exhaustion, hope and expectation. It has been another rollercoaster; I have had some rather hairy moments and had to hold on real tight to the edge of my seat, but whatever I have been through is nothing compared to those who have lost loved ones in the past year and will have vacant spaces at the dinner table. Many are nursing others who are sick, or looking after those who are homeless, the list could go on but the point is life is full of ups and downs, joy and sorrow; if you are up give a listening ear or helping hand to someone who is down and if you are the one who is down try not to give up on hope for tomorrow, no matter how trite it sounds the calm always comes after a storm….
In this issue multitalented Dare, the youngest child of the late Art Alade proves that he really is daring to be different , Adebayo Jones introduces award winning art director Andy Okoroafor of CLAM, who is now pursuing his childhood dream and venturing into films and personal trainer, Tunde Somefun tells us how to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Demide Davis gives the low down on the upper end of the Real Estate market in the States for those who can afford it, and Ola Onigbinde a budding social entrepreneur introduces her brand new magazine FaithAction which proposes to provide a way for Christians to liaise with the government about pressing issues in the community. Share Kids stuff with the kids you know and pick up some tips from Black kid Smart Kid on how to work with your child. If you only have time to read one thing spare that moment for ‘food for thought' and let us all remember the true meaning of Xmas.
Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year
