Adoption
 RECENTLY , it seems as if adoption has become a celebrity thing with the likes of Madonna and Guy Ritchie, Angelina Jolie and Bradd Pitt periodically making headline news in this regard. However, the truth is, there are millions of orphaned and or abandoned children all over the world who need a home and it is commendable if anyone endeavours to make a difference by providing such a child or children with a loving home and family that he or she might otherwise not have had.
There are many reasons why couples or individuals might consider adoption but it is of course not for everyone and like all things in life it comes with its own challenges. However, ultimately we all have a responsibility to do what we can to protect and nurture these vulnerable children and should assist in whatever way we can. With a population of 140m Nigeria is no exception and in fact the number of abandoned children is on the increase, many of whom are victims of the escalating HIV/ Aids epidemic. Several organisations like the ones noted below have already taken the lead and stepped up to the mark. They can not do it alone and need our help. Can you be a volunteer, adopt or foster a child or would you like to make a donation? Please do not hesitate, act now – you could just save a child's life!
